Design Trend: June – Chef Inspired Kitchens

This summer, our showhome decorators are all for making your kitchen a fresh and stylish place. Using the 2014 Calgary Stampede Rotary Dream Home for inspiration, showhome decorator Julie Punter shows you how to get the chef inspired design trend into your kitchen.

Chef inspired kitchens are all the rage for their chic and contemporary flare. We’re talking exposed culinary tools, hanging pots and pans, and a functional kitchen that’s also stylish.

Stainless appliances and clean countertops are the key to this professional look. In the 2014 Dream home, we used utilitarian racks and open shelving enhance this and allow space for storage and highlight your neatest gadgets! We know tons of Avi Urban homeowners love to cook in their kitchens, and lots of them have some seriously awesome cooking tools (like Le Creuset dutch ovens and shiny copper pots). Showing your best kitchen gadgets off is a great way to show your culinary prowess while creating a kitchen fit for a chef.

Furthermore, a stainless backsplash, glass cabinetry, and high end appliances to showcase our most loved and most used space in the home. Stainless steel backsplashes echo the kitchens you’d see in restaurants, with easy cleanup and a bright, fresh look. Hanging some glass shelving in areas without cabinets is a great way to display your favorite pieces and create a modern feel in the space.
