The Block: Construction Update-August 2013

What an awesome August we had at The Block, and our team will continue the momentum on into September! The construction on The Block is moving along. We got a recent update from our site superintendent to get in the know of what’s happening.

The condos are coming along incredibly well! All four storeys have been framed and the first floor condos have now been Gypcreted. Gypcrete is the layer of concrete product between floors. This step will helps with sound and safety, and will help ensure you don’t hear about your neighbour’s video game addiction or stiletto heel collection!

City water is now in the building. Because of this, water testing for the plumbing risers on the east side will be completed this week. Plus, sprinkler testing is ongoing throught the building.

Some major structural accomplishments have happened this summer, too. The south stairwell will be done this week up to the fourth floor.  Roofing on the west side ongoing, and you’ll be able to see this progress happening as you walk by the building. Exterior brick is also now complete on the north side of the building, so you can start to see how the entire building will look at completion.

In the townhomes, the garage concrete slabs will be poured and finished this week. The concrete slab is what you’ll drive onto in your new garage, so it’s cool to see this major step being completed. Drywall is also anticipated to begin later this week.

With summer coming to an end and everyone getting back to the grind, our focus and goal is always ongoing progress at The Block. Feel free to contact your customer relations representative if you have any questions about the construction of your new place.

And just a reminder you can always find construction terms for those words you don’t hear everyday in our glossary!
