The Block: Construction Update – July 2013

It’s been one seriously busy summer at The Block, and our team has been taking advantage of the incredible weather to make major progress on these new SW Calgary condos!

We checked in with site superintendent Colin to see how these places are coming along, and he gave us a run-down of the construction activity on site. Here’s what’s happening at your new condo or townhome at The Block:

All exterior walls are now up! This is a big deal, because you’ll now be able to get a better idea of what your entire building will look like once complete. From the varied elevations to window sizes, having the exterior walls up helps you visualize how your new place will look.

The team is also working to complete the roof sheathing this week, which is the first layer of material that goes onto the roof rafters so we can install the final roofing materials. The structural steel for the walkways are now complete as well.

The team is also installing all of the windows and doors within the next few weeks! Having the windows will allow major work to begin inside each home.

Mechanical and electrical rough-ins ( the heating, plumbing and everything inside the walls that makes your house a home!) are now happening on the third floor condos, with completion of rough-ins happening this week on floors one and two.

We’ve also started drywall on the east side of the condos, and we’ve started to drywall in the townhomes. Major drywalling has not yet started, but this process will be continuing throughout the summer.

It’s exciting to see all of the action on site, and our customer relations team is always here to answer questions throughout the construction progress. Contact the team if you have any questions, and keep it locked to the blog as we head into fall for more construction updates.
