Who Is The Block: Erin

Name

Erin

Occupation

Floorplan

Live/Work Townhome

Why’d you buy at The Block?

The key was the live/work, and the fact that I’m close to everything. It’s all outside my door and I don’t have any cabs to pay for.

What will you do out of the space?

I’m turning the garage into my office or an entertainment room.

What do you love about your new neighbourhood?

The restaurants! The opportunity to walk out your door and you’ve got great pubs, beer halls, whatever you want, and it’s all within walking distance. I have tons of friends in the area, and all we do is sit on one block of 17th and we’ll always run into people.

Who’s going to be decorating your new house and how?

I  look at a lot of stuff online, so I have an idea for the main floor right now.  As for the pieces I want, I think I’m going to consult some of my design friends, just to make sure that I do it properly.

Favorite kinds of movies?

Comedies, like Anchorman, but also thrillers. Anything to do with cartels and conspiracy theories.

Favorite TV shows?

Homeland, 100% best TV show ever.

Who’s your favorite cartoon character?

Foghorn Leghorn. It’s been a long time favourite, me and my dad used to watch Looney Tunes so that’s kind of our thing.

Favorite pizza toppings?

There has to be pineapple, no question about it!

Are you adventurous when it comes to food?

Oh yeah, I’ve eaten lots of different things in my lifetime. I’ll try everything once, and while I don’t necessarily have to like it, I don’t think I’m overly picky.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Crocodile. Its kind of like chicken, just a little bit chewier. Bizarre.

Do you cook/bake?
I love to cook, and I love to bake. My newest thing is barbequed pizza on the grill. You get a pizza stone and you have a topping station, and you go to town. It’s the best thing ever, you’ll never go back to oven cooked pizza. And anyone that I know, knows that I make pretty good cookies (they’re monster cookies!) I love to deliver the cookies, it’s a Girl Guide thing I guess!

What do you do in your spare time?

A lot of spinning, and I also usually like to dine out on 17th. I like to be part and parcel of what’s going on in the city, just to keep entertained.

What do you do on a Saturday night?
Usually dinner, probably head out to somewhere on 17th afterwards for a few drinks and just enjoy the evening.

Are you into sports?

I like cycling, it’s my go-to thing right now, and spinning inside. I did the Colour Me Rad run recently, that was fun!

Any crazy travel experiences?

I lived in Cayman Islands for a year, which was really entertaining when you live in a one mile radius. I’ve also been to Hawaii a ton, but I still have so many places to check off my list. I’d like to go to the Borneo rain forest for their orangutan rehabilitation where you get to hang out with baby orangutans!

Do you have pets?
Yeah, I have a dog named Marley, she’s awesome. She’s an Irish Water Spaniel, and she’s hyper and high maintenance!

What’s your most embarrassing moment?

I was about 18, and one of our friends was coming to pick up the top for his Jeep. I asked “Well, how do you fit it in the Jeep?” because I thought you put it in the back – I pretty much didn’t know how a Jeep worked. It was really embarrassing, and still to this day I think “Oh God, that was so stupid.”

What’s the worst haircut you’ve ever had?

My mom left the scissors out and I cut my pigtails right off. This was before you could do fades and all that cool Miley Cyrus stuff. No, it was a straight up boy haircut, and to this day I will never cut my hair short.

Worst outfit as a kid?
It was a mishmash of bad patterns. Now I know you can match patterns, just not to that extreme. I’m sure there are some photos around, but I’m pretty good at making sure they don’t get on the internet.

What’s your fashion style?

Street style. I know a lot of people go down that hipster road, but there’s a big difference between street style. (I’m going to get in trouble for this) but I would say a hipster is a little more of a grunge, unshowered, glasses-with-no-lenses-in-them look. Street style is more Montreal/Europe style.
