Buffalo at Silverado: DIY and freshen up for spring

It’s that time of year again! Let the spring sunshine and rain inspire you to freshen up your home.

Buffalo at Silverado has some helpful tips to make this daunting (but very worthwhile) task a little easier on you and your wallet.

  • Use diluted white vinegar for cleaning! This household gem is mildly acidic and dissolves dirt, soap scum and hard water deposits from smooth surfaces. It’s also gentle enough for your hardwood floors. The natural deodorizer helps eliminate odours out of any room, closet or entry way. It even doubles as a fabric softener substitute in your wash, for noticeably brighter and softer clothes. And when it comes to conquering that tough grime and shower residue, try heating the vinegar up, spraying over affected area, let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrub.
  • When life gives you lemons… clean with them!  In addition to looking great on your counter, these nifty fruits release a fragrant lemon oil that can be used to freshen your garbage disposal when thrown through the grinder (once you’re finished making the lemonade, of course).
  • …and then there’s the infamous, almighty baking soda. This beauty takes mild abrasive action and has natural deodorizing properties, making it a powerful replacement for harsh chemicals. Sprinkle baking soda onto a damp sponge to tackle grimy bathtub rings, scour vanity units or remove food deposits from the kitchen sink. Sprinkle down the drains and add boiling water for a fresh scent.

After-all, a clean house is a happy house!

Until next time,

Whitney @ Buffalo
