Meet Matt! He’s the proud new owner of the One Bed A plan at Canoe in Auburn Bay. We had the pleasure of getting to know him, so thought we’d get him to answer some fun questions so you could get to know him too! Here is what he had to say about himself and why he chose Canoe by Avi Urban.
Favourite thing about Auburn Bay or the SE?
The Lake Access both in summer and winter.
I moved around a lot as a kid, so I got to live in many different parts of Canada. It was hard to leave friends and family behind, which happened more than two or three times, but it helped build character in me and also allowed me to experience a lot of what Canada has to offer. I recently moved here from Vancouver, and although I had to say goodbye to good friends again, I’ve started something new here and I am excited to see what Calgary has to offer. I also like to paint on canvas and I have a small dog who I think is pretty amazing.
Why you chose to call Canoe your home?
I have family in Auburn Bay, so I wanted to be close to them and call the SE my home. I looked at many different places in the SE and SW but no place I went in gave me that this is it feeling. When I walked into Canoe, I knew.
How you heard about us?
My brother lives in Auburn Bay and recommended Canoe first. If I’d listened to him right off the bat I wouldn’t have needed to see anything else, but I’m glad it went the way it did.
Your favourite thing about your new home?
Being on the ground floor with easy access for my dog to go outside.
Favourite sinful food?
Chocolate ice cream.
What is the coolest thing about you?
I am a portrait painter. If you want to see some of my work it is viewable at matthewbockstael.com
Nicknames as a kid?
Weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
Bear (I was told it was chicken).
Most embarrassing moment?
I don’t really have a single embarrassing moment, life happens and you roll with it.
Most triumphant moment?
Conquering personal fears.
If you could have a super power what would it be?
Flight, who doesn’t want to be able to fly?
What do you think about the name Canoe? Love it or hate it? And Why?
At first I thought it was kind of silly, but after thinking about it, I really like it. I think it fits well with the theme of Auburn Bay.
Thanks again Matt, and welcome to the Canoe family!
