With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we sat down with our show home decorator, Chloe, and asked her how you can make your home festive for the holidays!
“When it comes to decorating for Thanksgiving, you can either do it in a traditional or modern style. It really depends on your taste.”
For the more traditional décor flavour, here are some classic ideas:
-Make a wreath by wrapping branches and leaves together, adding pine cones and hints of fall colours.
-Decorate your front entrance and landing with pumpkins in multiple sizes and heights, adding candles and garland for a finishing touch.
– A fun, rustic idea would be to find an old barrel or cart that fits in your space, and fill it with pumpkins, leaves and branches.
If you have a flair for a modern touch, here are some fresh ideas:
-Find and fill different sized hurricane jars and group them together as a centerpiece to create a vignette. Fill them with glittered pine cones, branches, fall inspired coloured dried peas or beans, and little pumpkins. These jars could work well at your front entrance stairs or entryway inside. For a welcoming feeling, place flameless candles for a soft lighting finish.
-Filament lights are a new trend nowadays. String the light bulbs in your backyard or on your railing on the patio. They give more of a moody, romantic and industrial vibe.
-Adding touches of new fall colours for décor items or throw blankets, like burnt orange or deep burgundy, will give your home a pop of colour for the Thanksgiving season.
If you want to try some of these for yourself, Chloe says, “Michaels is a great craft store and so is the dollar store. You can find fabric, burlap and rings for the wreaths. You can also grab materials from your own yard. I love antiquing and vintage shopping. Flea markets, garage sales and value village have great frames you can re purpose!”
Happy Thanksgiving from your Avi Urban team!
